Jessica Lourie

ABOUT

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Jessica had the opportunity to watch and learn from both of her parents who practice personal injury law. Jessica graduated cum laude from the University of South Carolina in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice and a minor degree in Spanish. Throughout her undergraduate studies and law school, Jessica worked as an intern and law clerk at the Richland County prosecutor’s office (Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office) in Columbia, South Carolina. While in law school, Jessica was inducted into the Order of the Wig and Robe, a legal scholastic organization for students ranking in the top 15% of their class. graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2018.

Upon admission to the South Carolina Bar in 2018, Jessica continued her work at the Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office. As a prosecutor, Jessica had the opportunity to gain invaluable experience arguing in court on a daily basis. She was a zealous advocate for the victims of crime in her community, especially those that could not advocate or speak for themselves. She managed and handled a case load of over seven hundred cases at a time. Her cases included violent crimes, domestic violence, animal cruelty, vulnerable adult and child abuse and neglect, property and financial crimes, gun violence, among many other crimes. She was responsible for representing the State of South Carolina at all stages of criminal prosecution from arrest to resolution. Jessica was especially passionate about the prosecution of animal cruelty, abuse, and neglect cases. She directed a state-wide Animal Cruelty Task Force comprised of prosecutors, law enforcement agencies, and animal rights organizations to facilitate effective prosecution of animal cruelty crimes. She led animal cruelty educational programs for several law enforcement agencies, the South Carolina Commission on Prosecution Coordination, and the Humane Society.

Jessica’s passion for victim advocacy led her to join Lourie, Chance, Forlines, Carter & King in September 2022. Her practice focuses on medical malpractice, nursing home abuse and neglect, gynecological and obstetrical injury cases, catastrophic injury, and trucking/automobile collisions. Lourie Chance has given Jessica the ability to continue her passion for fighting for justice for victims of personal injury throughout the states of South Carolina and Georgia.

In her free time, Jessica enjoys gardening, taking her dogs on adventures, exploring her creative side through artwork and crafting, and spending time at the beach with family and friends.
